The Theme Of The World Environment Day

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M.Uttar Pradesh is the second state after Maharashtra to enforce a ban on plastic. In December 2015,  during the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh, the state cabinet had approved a complete ban on the distribution, manufacture and sale of polythene carry bags of 40 microns thickness after a directive Heat Shrink Sleeve Packaging manufacturers in this regard from the Allahabad high court. We will require everyone’s cooperation to implement this ban”.The Maharashtra government had banned  plastic from June 23, and announced that it would fine `5,000 for the first offence, `10,000 for the second, and up to `25,000 and a three-month jail term for repeated violations.Beating the plastic pollution was also the theme of the World Environment day this year.The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, issued an order banning the use of plastic in the state from July 15.Announcing this on Friday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that “I hope people will stop using plastic cups, glasses and polythene at every level from July 15.This year, on the World Environment Day (June 5), Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged the countrymen to to take a pledge to beat plastic pollution

Made To Resize The Sleeves In Full Public View

Women appearing for a competitive exam in BiharMuzaffarpur district were in for a shock when the invigilators snipped off the sleeves of their dresses in "full public view" as a disciplinary measure, an official said on Sunday.The footage of Saturdayincident was flashed on regional news channels, sparking outrage by local people and the parents of the women, he said.The female candidates, who enrolled for the nursing entrance exam of Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB), were advised against wearing full-sleeved dresses, but some of them failed to adhere to the norm, District Education Officer Lalan Prasad Singh said."

The footage showed that China plastic sleeves the staff members of the examination centre at a public school were cutting off the sleeves of candidates with scissors and blades. The education department conducted an inquiry into the incident and barred the school from holding competitive exams in future," Singh said."The intention of the exercise was not questionable and care was taken to involve only female staff, but the problem was that the candidates were made to resize the sleeves in full public view," he said."The school, where the exam was held, has been blacklisted and it would no longer be entrusted with the duty of holding exams in the future. The official who served as exam superintendent has also been debarred for life," he added.The BCECEB conducts exams across the state every year for admission in various professional courses of medical, engineering and agriculture streams.

With only BMC reducing fines

The BMC is just the implementing agency for the ban. Hence, we decided to reject the proposal. “The plastic ban has been announced statewide and the penalty is also uniform throughout the state. We now want the state government to look into the matter and decide on reducing the penalty charges,” said Suvarna Karanje, chairperson of the law committee.The civic administration had tabled a proposal for reducing the fine for banned plastic before the civic law committee, which discussed the issue in detail on Wednesday.

With only BMC reducing fines, utter commotion would have been created over implementation of the ban in other parts.The state government has declared a fine of Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively, for a first-time and second-time offender.Mumbai: The minimum fine for using banned plastic will continue to be Rs 5,000. In a dramatic move, the law committee of the Brihanmumbai Mun-icipal Corporation (BMC) has rejected the proposal to reduce the fine amount to Rs 200, stating that the civic body has no powers to do so.
